Apart from the implications discussed below, our study demonstrates the importance of investigating separately the enantiomers of a given compound.

The repeatability coefficient of our study was below 5%% for the measurement of retinal thickness and below 10%% for the RPE_OScomplex, and thus comparable to earlier studies with the same two instruments [ 20, 21].
