Scores may be calculated for each subscale (anxiety and depression) and range from 0-21, with clinical cut off for possible anxiety or depression being a score of 8-10 and probable indication being a score of 11 and over.
In addition, the South Oaks Gambling Screen (SOGS; Lesieur and Blume, 1987) was administered, the main inclusion criterion for PG being a score of 5 or higher.
As noted above, we calculated an Outcome Score from 0 (no coma, no cognitive deficits, no tremor, no cranial nerve problems, no weakness) to 5, with death being a score of 6 (N = 55).
In addition to being a score of cell type, this scale was read as a score of "wound maturity," with less mature wounds (being primarily populated by inflammatory cells) achieving lower scale readings, and more mature wounds (primarily populated by proliferative cells) achieving higher readings.
Surprisingly, in the postclass assessment, we found that only 54% of the students wrote a purpose demonstrating at least acceptable knowledge of the experiment, acceptable being a score of at least 2 on a scale of 5 based on the same criteria used by the course TAs during the semester (Table 4).
