Using demographic and behavioural records spanning a continuous 28-year period, we investigated the occurrence of this "simulated" oestrus behaviour.
Of the fifteen juveniles that died, ten were euthanazed, with euthanasia criteria including >50% burns to total body surface area, large skin surface area with open tissue, comparative behavioural records indicating severe pain and distress, collapse without recovery after revival, as well as low blood protein and calcium.
Subsequent behavioural recording was via video link.
Autonomous behavioural recording technologies are increasingly being used to collect continuous interaction data on animal associations.
We have described a relational event model for animal association data that will allow researchers to analyse continuous event stream data, a form that has become increasingly common in animal studies using autonomous behavioural recording technologies (Wark et al. 2007; Handcock et al. 2009).
The frequency of initial head swing contra-lateral to the ischemic side was counted in twenty continuous tests and was normalized, as follows: % recovery = [1- lateral swings in 20 tests-10)/10 × 100%.
