The associations between parental well-being and the development of behavioural disorders in children are likely bidirectional, as the presence of emotional and behaviour problems in children may be a stressor for mothers and fathers, with subsequent influence on their mental health [ 51].
John Stein suggests that many of the current approaches to solving attention and behaviour problems in children are too "sociological".
