On the basis of the relationship between shear and the rate of change in bending moment (V = dM/dx = zdT/dx + Tdz/dx) in reinforced concrete beams subjected to shear and bending, a behavioral model has been proposed in the present paper.
The Andersen Behavioral Model has been used previously to identify barriers to care participation and contains a comprehensive set of factors known to influence utilization of care [ 18].
Renz and Newton [ 28] concluded that no single behavioral model has been constructed to explain non-compliance, but suggested the need for an emotional and cognitive process to achieve a necessary level of acquiescence.
The Behavioral Model has been adapted for this study as a framework to guide the research in determining how ethnicity and other socio-demographic factors can affect oral health status.
For example, Andersen's behavioral model has been a prevailing model in the healthcare utilization literature explaining individuals' decisions to seek healthcare services based on specific predisposing (demographic status, social structure, and health beliefs), enabling (personal, familial, or community resources), and need (perceived and evaluated need of health services) factors [ 44, 45].
In terms of body weight, behavioral economic models have been developed to address the effects of environmental factors on energy intake and body weight [ 4].
From a behavioral viewpoint, multiple models have been suggested to effect behavior change.
