Co-ordinates of the beginning of all features of each element were recorded in an Excel table and the information submitted to domain draw [ 17] to create a schematic representation of each sugarcane LTR-RT.
A preference for gene conversion of the beginning of the element may be explained by a greater degree of homology among Alu elements in this region (see Methods).
