Two fruitbody collections obtained from Nothofagus forest in Mid Canterbury have been shown by sequencing to belong to this species (PDD 70486, Dodd et al. 2010; PDD 91742, ICMP 16996, GenBank GQ411506, Fukami et al. 2010, confirmed in this work; New Zealand Fungal Herbarium, Landcare Research New Zealand).
This is a plausible explanation for at least 3 of the four samples which were shown by sequence analysis of the Helicobacteraceae PCR product to contain H. pylori despite H. pylori PCR results being negative.
