For non-model organisms, de novo genome assembly of short read data is complicated but many transcriptomes have been sequenced from non-model species and published over the last years [ 18- 22].
Furthermore, the majority of these sequences arise from non-normalised cDNA libraries or those constructed from immune-stimulated fish; few ESTs have been sequenced from non-immune tissues or different developmental stages of flatfish.
