Even in legumes that normally produce nodules through infection threads, rhizobial infection and subsequent nodulation via crack entry has been observed; examples include both papilionoids (e.g., Trifolium, Lotus) and mimosoids (e.g., Neptunia, Mimosa) [reviewed in 41], [ 48], [ 49].
