The relation between Na-normalized Ca2+, HCO3− and Mg2+ shows that although most of the Mg may have been derived from carbonate dissolution, some have a silicate source (Belkhiri et al. 2010).
Both Ca2+ and Mg2+ are derived from the silicate rocks as well as dolomitic deposits.
Note the presence of small area (approximately 3 μm in major axis) with relatively strong intensities of m/z 23.99 (Mg+) and 55.94 (56Fe+) with faint m/z 56.94 (57Fe+), which could be derived from a silicate mineral such as olivine.
