Here indeed was a tough bargain for the reader, since Lily must be a very favorite heroine for quite a few of us; I know she's one of mine, and I had always envisioned her as a more spirited, bewitching figure than the strong, forthright, ultimately heartbreaking one Ms. Anderson becomes on screen.
