No differences in energy drink consumptions were found related to having had an accident or making a mistake that affected the mission because of sleepiness, the study says.
The research, by Marianne Bertrand, a professor of economics at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and two Harvard economics professors, Claudia Goldin and Lawrence F. Katz, provides a statistical explanation: women with children fall behind because they work less, the study says.
Attracting diverse students is difficult, the study says, because of "the general impression that German is a difficult language" compared with other European languages.
"Rural surgeons are often uneasy when their outcomes are compared with those of urban surgeons," the study says, "largely because they perceive that rural patients typically present with worse disease".
Kate Purcell, an emeritus professor in the Institute of Employment Research at the University of Warwick and principal investigator of the study, says that because most students at home live more than 30 minutes from university, they are less likely to take part in extra-curricular activities and this could damage their employment prospects.
The increase in deaths was not because women had become more aggressive or reckless, the study said, but because more women are driving now and covering more miles than ever.
Losing forests in these areas could also affect leaders' efforts to rein in greenhouse gas emissions to tackle climate change, the study said, because of the amount of carbon stored in trees and peat.
Instead, the study said, because they make decisions "under conditions of high uncertainty," venture capitalists rely on instinct and their expertise in ferreting out information by other means to evaluate the prospects of a business.
While 14,937 women died in crashes in 1998, compared with 9,356 in 1975, the rate of deaths per mile driven in auto accidents for both men and women has declined sharply over that period, largely, the study said, because of improved safety features like seat belts, air bags and antilock brakes.
In the 30-44 agroupoup, the benefits "marginally" outweighed the harms, the study said, because many of the diseases affected by physical activity are less common in younger people.
