Because this study followed the natural course of albuminuria by performing repeated measurements of albuminuria for >10 years, we were able to measure GDF-15 in samples prior to the transition in albuminuria, whereas many studies have a cross-sectional design and test biomarkers in patients with established increased albuminuria.
Because guidelines studies follow consistent protocols, data can be more reliably compared between compounds and the criteria.
Fixed sites where puncta and structures assemble and disassemble have not previously been described, perhaps because most studies follow puncta or structures over a single cycle of assembly and disassembly (although some published figures show disassembly and reassembly at the same site – e.g. ref. [11], Fig. 2A).
For the relation with patient characteristics non-parametric Spearman correlation, Kruskal-Wallis H and Mann-Whitney U tests were used, because the study parameters did not follow a normal distribution.
It is possible that increased rates of psychological distress were found in this study because the assessment followed within a short time (within one month) of the TB diagnosis which might not have persisted at a later stage of the disease course or upon completion of TB treatment.
These results were to be expected because the GDSE domain has only been growing since 2005; before 2010 more studies follow the descriptive approach because the field was young.
Three children were excluded from further analysis because the study protocol had not been correctly followed.
A further CE MRI was more likely in women recalled on the basis of CE MRI either alone or in combination with mammography (Table 4) because the study protocol provided for a follow-up CE MRI in cases where the MRI findings were equivocal and, in some cases, it was the only modality on which the lesion could be observed.
Because of the study's staggered follow-up period, exit visits ranged in quarterly intervals from Month 12 to Month 24 (median Month 21).Thus for the exit visit data, 12% of responses were at Month 12, 16% each at Months 15 and 18, 14% at Month 21, and 42% at Month 24 (Fig. 1).
Uptake of the first cycle was 100% because studies only followed up patients who did a first cycle.
