Audience reaction was enthusiastic, causing Hahn to have some initial concerns as he became afraid of not living up to the expectations raised by the preview.
"And, instead of embracing immigrants, people became afraid of immigrants," the show's set designer, an architect named Bonnie Roche-Bronfman, said.
Its characteristically limpid opening sentence – "As he weakened, Moran became afraid of his daughters" – encapsulates the main theme.
