To ensure the ΔΔCT method was valid for estimating relative transcript levels, primer validation was performed to demonstrate that the efficiencies of target and reference were approximately equal and that the absolute values of the slopes of log input RNA amount versus ΔCT were < 0.1.
The results suggest that the approach is valid for estimating the annual energy savings.
