What if university landscaping endeavored to be more multifunctional?
Previous work in our lab [ 28] showed that genes associated with diseases tend to be more "multifunctional" (i.e., they have more Gene Ontology (GO) [ 29] annotations).
When we separated the genes specific to one disease versus the rest, we confirmed our hypothesis that genes associated with multiple disorders tend to be more multifunctional than specific genes.
