In both channels, certain AAMs were located at codons belonging to the 1st and 2nd evolutionary rate categories as well as to variability classes 0, 1 and 2. This implies that, when AAMs are found at variable sites, they may preferentially occur at those with low evolutionary rates.
However, in SCARKO littermates of the same ages, SC nuclei were found at variable locations, often forming one- or two-layered rings positioned more centrally in the tubules (Figure 6M, P: black arrowheads).
