Although it had been argued that early differences between syntactic classes (noun/verb) could be explained on the basis of semantic properties (action-/visually-related semantic features, Pulvermüller, Mohr, & Schleichert, 1999), other authors found a lexico-syntactic effect independent of semantic differences (Kellenbach et al., 2002).
