Interestingly, the clinical effects on POD0 seem to warrant improved hemodynamics in EA patients, since the CI remained slightly though significantly higher, even if it should be acknowledged that CI showed a baseline insignificant tendency to be higher in the EA group.
In contrast, the basal-like subtype is of particular clinical focus due to its high frequency, lack of effective targeted therapies, poor baseline prognosis, and tendency to affect younger women [ 3].
It should be noted however that in prospective studies where smoking habits were determined at baseline, the greater tendency of males to quit during follow-up may cause bias in the reverse direction.
