NEWARK — The Justice Department is investigating claims that brutality, baseless searches, intimidation and false arrests are commonplace in the Newark Police Department, officials announced on Monday.
Mr Emmerson said claims of bullying and intimidation were "entirely baseless".
In a statement, Mr Emmerson said that allegations of bullying and intimidation were "entirely baseless", adding that complaints from Ms Evans had already been "fully investigated and dismissed as unfounded".
"Passing through these unconstitutionally intrusive roadblocks is fraught with the potential for harassment, intimidation, demeaning searches, baseless citations, and possibly even arrest and subsequent incarceration," reads the complaint.
Given Trump's limited understanding of, or respect for, our rule of law, as well as his despotic nature — obstruction, witness intimidation, false and baseless accusations aimed at discrediting his opposition, and likely hundreds of emoluments violations — it's very possible more infractions will surface.
In a statement on Tuesday night, Emmerson denied any bullying or intimidation, calling the allegations "baseless".
"This is an obvious coordinated intimidation tactic from the left masquerading as just one more utterly baseless complaint," he said via email.
The Eritrean embassy described the allegations as "baseless, ongoing, deliberate and distorted" and said the Eritrean government had never used coercive methods or intimidation to collect the tax.
That suggestion is baseless.
