"Based on" and "through" are both prepositions that serve different purposes in a sentence. "Based on" is used to indicate the foundation or reasoning behind something, while "through" is used to indicate a method or process. These two prepositions cannot be used together in this way. Here are two examples of using "based on" and "through" correctly in sentences: - The company's decision was based on market research. - I learned French through immersion in a French-speaking country. A similar and correct phrase could be "based on going through," as in: - The company's decision was based on going through extensive market research. This phrase indicates that the decision was based on the process of going through market research.
