A survey assessing the impact of NSNHEs was developed based on the literature, expert input and interviews with 78 persons with diabetes in nine focus groups in four countries (USA, UK, Germany and France) who recently had experienced an NSNHE.
One of the strengths of our analysis is that, because of the lack of published clinical input data on drug use, medical resource utilization, and treatment of opioid-induced side effects, it was based on real-world use of these treatments, given that our input data was based on the expert opinion of clinical and radiotherapeutic oncologists working in Spanish hospitals.
In Table 7 we present the final outcomes of major decisions: the ranking based on the expert elicitation, the ranking based on including the jury input and the final outcomes in research practice.
The expert review process elicited ranges of numerical values for generic (i.e., not setting-specific) model inputs to characterize immunity states, waning, and OPV evolution based on the expert interpretation of the evidence [ 8, 22, 37].
This recommendation is based on the experts' clinical experience.
Even though the quality checklist used in this study was based on both expert input and important issues from the literature, it was not exhaustive and, consequently, it might have some limitations.
Both general study information as well as IRT-specific information were extracted, using a purpose-made checklist (Additional file 1) based on both expert input and important issues as mentioned in Tennant and Conaghan [ 22], Reeve and Fayers [ 15], and Orlando [ 23].
