By reportedly investing around $70m£45m5m) in War Machine, which will see Pitt play a character based on the controversial former commander of US troops in Afghanistan, General Stanley McChrystal, Netflix is showing its studio chops.
Aleksei Vostrikov, a fictional character closely based on Nikolai Zatayev, the commander of a Soviet nuclear submarine that experienced a reactor meltdown during its 1961 maiden voyage.
After previously blocking requests by the chiefs of staff for 2,000 more troops to be deployed in southern Afghanistan, Gordon Brown has said in a letter to senior Commons committee chairmen: "We will of course continue to review our force levels based on the advice of commanders and discussions with our allies".
"From what I know now, based on the information available to the commanders on the ground at this time, I think their judgments were good," he said at a news conference in Tampa, Fla., near his Central Command headquarters.
