Although this corresponds to 96 generations in this study, our interest was to go back to the time of the foundation of the herd (i.e. 26 generations ago) as this is the period of time for which pedigree-based estimates can be obtained and compared with LD-based estimates.
Because EIP surveillance is population based, robust national estimates can be made, and these have been proven very useful for informing national policy.
We then apply a practical identifiability analysis to those parameter sets to establish how well these estimates can be determined based on the available experimental data.
In this paper we present some results on model based force estimation and how these estimates can be integrated in a common robot force control scheme.
