In Table 1 we specified the preferred source for the base-case value and its standard error for each model parameter to obtain base-case estimates and to perform PSA, which provided credibility intervals for each model outcome.
For SIA base-case estimates and lower and upper limit of vaccination coverage, we used several data sources for vaccination coverage following measles supplemental immunization activities from Darfur, Sudan, Afghanistan, and refugee camps in Kenya [ 34- 37].
Base case estimates of frequency and costs of ADEs were lower than all estimates of the sensitivity analyses.
Blood acquisition and administration payments were higher when outliers were excluded (mean, $696; SD, $701) but similar to the base case estimates when narrowing and broadening the time frame.
Base case estimates for both 6 and 8 years demonstrated that cost-effectiveness improved as the time horizon lengthens with £13,626 (€21,840) and £11,000 (€17,631) cost per relapse avoided respectively.
The bootstrap estimates, performed on the model simulation results, are very condensed, see Figure 3, with narrow 95% confidence intervals and replicates spread around the base case estimates on differences in costs and QALYs between the hip fracture groups.
Varying deterministic base case estimates by 20% (constrained by maximum and minimum values) shows that the model is most sensitive to the QoL estimate of a "well" person.
Sensitivity analyses were conducted on model parameters and uncertainty in the base case estimates was examined using the bootstrap technique with 250 model replications, and 1000 re-samples from the results of these simulations.
The base case estimates of the cost per QALY averted for the complete intervention and the condom use skills component fell below this $50,000 threshold.
