Cultivated accessions have exposed seeds and a high seed density per spike (iii), with a few basal branches and no aerial branches (iv).

The C tree shows an initial deep split into four sister subclades, C1, C4, C5 and C7, each containing several independent basal branches, one within C1, at least three within C4, four within C5, and three within C7 (Figure S1).
Haplogroup E1b1 now contains two basal branches, E-V38 (E1b1andand E-M215 (E1b1b), with V38/V100 joining the two previously separated lineages E-M2 (former E1b1a) and E-M329 (former E1b1c).
We have not tested the effects of these phylogenetic incongruities in the basal branches of the trees on community assembly parameters, such as Net Relatedness Index and Nearest Taxon Index (NRI and N, respectively [4], [11], [21]).
The basal branches of the genetic diversification of human populations happened some 150,000 years ago, a much shorter time than the split between humans and chimpanzees (around 6.5 million years).
