To date, only a few empirical studies have been conducted regarding the predictors of service utilisation and the barriers to utilisation faced by people who suffer from affective disorders [ 20, 23, 24] and in European people between the ages of 18 and 65 years [ 12].
Financial barriers to utilisation of health care services, and maternal mortality both fit Glouberman and Zimmerman's definition of complex problems, determined as they are by multiple, interlinked factors.
