A similar band pattern was found in mouse lung, heart and liver with 4 major HMW-DING bands located at 140 kDa, 71 kDa (double band of HMW-DING), 62 kDa and 52 kDa.
If the fabric is prohibited from evolving in the latter case, a cross-shape shear band pattern is found with the one initiated first by the structural constraint dominating over the second one.
Previously, strains with this particular band pattern were found to share a clonal deletion called RDRio that defines a major, newly recognized, lineage of M. tuberculosis that is the predominant cause of TB in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and that has disseminated to many countries around the world [ 7, 31, 32].
During 1995 through 1996, nosocomial transmission was suspected at a hospital where the same MDR strain (i.e., identical insertion sequence [IS] 6110 band patterns) was found in six patients.
ERIC-PCR resulted in highly diverse patterns, however seven identical patterns among colonizer (4 times 2 isolates and 3 times 3 isolates with the same band patterns) and twelve among infective isolates (6 times 2 isolates, 4 times 3 isolates and once 5 isolates and once 6 isolates with the same band patterns) were found.
A single IS1547-RFLP band (2.5 kb) pattern was observed for 13 strains, corresponding to the pattern of "atypical" strains described by Mokrousov et al [22] while a three band (1.7, 2.1, and 2.5 kb) pattern was found for 49 strains, corresponding to the pattern of "typical" Beijing strains [22].
Densitometric analysis of the 20 30 kDa PrPres bands showed a glycoform ratio similar to that found in sporadic CJD, being dominated by the monoglycosylated (middle) band seen on Western blots, however this pattern was found to be modified towards over-representation of non-glycosylated forms in the cerebellar specimen from patient III-4, in which the small fragment was also evident (Fig. 3b).
