IN winter in Juneau, Alaska, snow blankets everything, bears hibernate and Grady Saunders, the owner of the Heritage Coffee Company, fills his schedule with trips to balmy coffee-growing parts of the world.
But it wasn't offered, so at 10 p.m. on a balmy Saturday night, we asked for coffee as the cleanup crew worked busily all around us, extinguishing candles, swabbing tables and generally packing it in.
Climb the mountains towards the balmier state capital of Jalapa and the landscape changes into a canopy of coffee plants and orange trees, with cattle and horses grazing.
ON MAY 11th, a balmy Sunday in Donetsk, people walked along the leafy boulevard, played with their children and sipped coffee in street cafés.
"It makes my job so much easier," admits Dubois-Sissoko, "because it's easier for celebrities to visit the suite, but also if I feel a bit tired after a long day, I can have a coffee on the terrace of the Carlton and voilà, I'm reinvigorated by the beautiful balmy weather".
Over the course of eight hours in a balmy living room, two guys and two ladies consume the following "natural" laxatives: a saltwater tonic, tea, bad Mexican food, cigarettes, coffee, beer, rum, and caffeinated soda.
By lunchtime, the temperature felt positively balmy.
But other states have balmy weather, too.
The sun shone, a balmy breeze blew.
