R.I.M.'s BlackBerry Protect (in beta testing): Enables users to wirelessly backup, restore and locate their BlackBerry on a map or with a sound, as well as to remotely wipe or lock the device.
RIM today announced the beta availability of their upcoming remote backup, restore, and locate service, BlackBerry Protect.
Of interest are customer data and data path, administrative actions concerning customer's instances (e.g., patch management), incident response time, backup restore time, etc.
One of the uses for this, Microsoft noted, could be as a backup restore image that allows a developer to capture a working instance, make changes and, if things don't work, go back to the working version.
