The second component of the photocontrol module, a c-di-GMP phosphodiesterase, maintains near-zero background levels of c-di-GMP in the absence of light, which enhances the photodynamic range of c-di-GMP concentrations.
In contrast, only low background levels of cyt c are released from the mitochondria of untreated cells under similar conditions.
For c- jun, basal level of K9ac is much higher than for c- fos, and smaller increases are seen upon EGF stimulation, peaking at 60 min. The elevated basal level of K9ac on c- jun may be due to a low background level of c- jun transcription in control cells (Hazzalin and Mahadevan, 2005).
