Background: Chronic infiltration of the airway wall with inflammatory cells characterizes both asthma and chronic bronchitis.
On CT it appears as a sharply demarcated area of hypodensity corresponding to the radiation ports; however, in case of background fatty infiltration of liver, the irradiated area appears hyperdense compared to adjacent liver parenchyma.
However, other variables including age, sex, cirrhosis background, capsular infiltration, serum AFP level, HBsAg status and multinodular tumor seemed to show a general trend, with subtle differences in survival without significance.

False-negative findings occur when there are low levels of bone marrow infiltration or when background bone marrow hyperplasia obscures metastases.
