The National Center for Science Education awarded Professor Gey the Friends of Darwin Award in recognition of his work to protect against the encroachment of religion into the classroom.
Rev. Henry was Associate Professor of Church History at the Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC), Atlanta, Georgia, where he taught for more than 30 years, retiring in 2003 (awarded Professor Emeritus 2010).
After awarding Professor Hart a $250,000 grant, she also encouraged him to participate in a business-plan competition, where he mentioned his idea to a pair of Harvard M.B.A. students, Eric Paley and Micah Rosenbloom.
"Several of these writers have been celebrated in their own countries and recognised internationally, but never before have we viewed them collectively as Asian writers," said executive director of the award, Professor David Parker.
