The phrase "averted under" is not correct and does not convey a clear meaning in written English.
It may be intended to describe something that has been avoided or prevented in a specific context, but the phrasing is awkward and unclear.
Example: "The crisis was averted under the new regulations."
Alternatives: "avoided under" or "prevented under".
For the base-case, we estimated incremental cost (in 2005 US dollars) per disability-adjusted life year (DALY) averted under routine vaccination using PCV9 compared to no vaccination.
The threatened layoffs of 4,100 teachers in New York's public schools were averted under a deal that the Bloomberg administration, the City Council and the teachers' union reached on Friday night.
Accordingly, rotavirus vaccination appeared less cost-effective; for instance, assuming this alternate efficacy and I$25 per vaccinated child, only seven countries had an incremental cost per DALY averted under I$100 (Table 4).
Projections for cases averted under the 2, 4, and 12 months strategy are only 0.3% lower than for the 2, 3, 4, and 12 months schedule because the level of protection is assumed to be almost identical.
This equated to 35% of the infections averted under the strategy with the greatest impact (TasP, long-term PrEP and condom promotion), and 73% of the DALYs (Fig. 1).
We therefore chose to use a "vaccine probe" approach in a broad sense [ 31]; that is, we simulate the occurrence of all-cause pneumonia of both primary and non-primary endpoints for both vaccination and no vaccination strategies, assuming that the net difference in the pneumonia disease burden reflects the burden caused by all serotypes of S. pneumoniae that is averted under a PCV intervention.
The generous dimensions of this VOI ensure that all counts related to striatal binding are captured, including those detected outside the anatomical boundary, thus averting under-estimations due to partial volume losses.
With this in mind, based on intervention costs alone, the cost of averting an episode of malaria in Hohoe with IPTc is high (US$67.77) compared to other malaria interventions which report the cost per malaria episode averted among under fives (in US$ 2008) of between US$3.71 for ITNs [29] and US$24.00 to US$26.58 for IRS [30].
In areas of sub-Saharan Africa with stable endemic falciparum malaria, effective use of ITNs results in averting 5.5 under-five deaths per 1000 children protected per year[ 29] (Table 1).
In SSA, the cost per DALY averted remained under $100 for all combinations of delivery cost and coverage level considered, for all comparisons.
As a general rule, an attractive intervention in developing countries is one in which the cost per DALY averted is under US$1500, and a highly attractive intervention is one with a cost per DALY of under US$255 [ 45].
