Many localities find themselves having to replace miles and miles of pipe for the first time — a burden that is especially acute in poorer, older industrial areas with shrinking populations, where such work would require higher-than-average water-rate increases on the residents who remain.
We clearly show that the comet achieved an average water production rate of 5 × 1029 molecules s−1, corresponding to a water gas loss rate of 14,960 kg s−1, in very good agreement with Schleicher (2009) who derived the water production rate using OH measurements on 1 Nov 2007 (about 8 days after the outburst).
The total power consumption for heating was 1185.4 kW, comprising 30.2% of the total power consumption, while the average water exchange rate was only 2.9% per day.
Furthermore, the water level within the impounding reservoir was measured at the regular time interval and variations of the instant and average water evaporation rate and associated latent heat intake during the day and night time were calculated.
In addition, an analytical equation is obtained expressing the required storage size as a function of the desired water supply reliability, average water use rate, as well as rainfall and catchment characteristics.

On average, water utility rates in California have increased 6% to 7% annually over the last decade, according to water rate consultant Sanjay Gaur.
Average water evaporation rates during day and night time were 0.378 kg/(h m2) and 0.137 kg/(h m2), respectively.
Finally, our model does not preclude the possibility that fluid flow through the crust from the shrinking serpentinite mantle wedge could be episodic as affected by tectonic and seismic activities and that our estimates of long-term average water discharge rates do not reflect the possibility of transient fluid transport.
Each record contains a household and shower identifier, a meter measurement in liters, the number of times that the faucet was turned off during the shower and the corresponding duration, the total duration of each shower as a whole, as well as the average water temperature and flow rate.
We also present daily-average water production rates for the long-period comets over long continuous time periods.
