Mean trabecular thickness (Tb.Th) was determined from the local thickness at each voxel representing bone [ 38].
bone outcome parameters included: bone volume fraction (BV/TV, mm/mm), trabecular thickness (Tb.Th, mm), average number of trabeculae per unit length (Tb. N, 1/mm), trabecular separation (Tb.Sp, mm) and trabecular volumetric bone mineral density (mg hydroxylapatite/cm).
Structural parameters included the apparent trabecular bone volume fraction (BV/TV), apparent trabecular number (Tb.N), apparent trabecular separation (Tb.Sp), apparent trabecular thickness (Tb.Th), mean trabecular area, mean trabecular perimeter, mean trabecular roundness and mean skeleton length [ 41].
On average, the peripheral region had 12 15% greater trabecular bone volume fraction and trabecular thickness than the central region (p < 0.01).
