Finally, nonparametric regression models were considered as a means of modeling the relationship between tidal changes and modal properties and the model with tidal height, tidal current speed and the multiplication of tidal height and speed was found to be the most appropriate one.
Monthly samples are taken over 6 h on an intermediate tide in the spring-neap cycle because the rate of capture of many animals varies with the tidal height, and a standardized sample covering the average tidal range is considered most suitable when calculating annual rates of capture.
For the subset of days during which wind speed and direction were collected at Macmillan Pier (n = 26), variation in the daily mean logENT could be predicted by a combination of water temperature, tidal height at the time of sample collection (related to tidal stage), and 4-h averaged wind direction measured at the Pier adj RR = 0.58, Figure 2A).
The average tidal volumes for technique 1 ranged from 438 to 604 ml.
They found that the distribution of nutrients is influenced by tidal cycle as indicated by changes in tidal height.
The effect of tidal influence on DO and pH is also witness by the significant, although weak, correlation between tidal height and DO, tidal height and pH, for most of the time periods (Table 1).
Water temperature was positively correlated with tidal height from 31 May to 26 July (Table 1).
Dissolved oxygen showed consistent positive correlation with tidal height (Table 1).
Chlorophyll a had a consistent negative correlation with tidal height (Table 1).
It is interesting to note that the tidal height is lesser in NM from 18 00 to 24 00 h, when compared to FM, but after 24:00 h the tidal height of NM increases than that of the FM.
