An analysis that stratified the parents by gender demonstrated that the mothers of centenarians had longer average lifespan compared to the mothers of non-centenarians, with the mean age at death of the mothers of centenarians being 76.4 ± 15.3 years and the mean age at death of the mothers of non-centenarians being 72.3 ± 16.8 years, p<0.01.

Most likely as a consequence of the kidney disease, they showed progressive downhill of their health conditions starting from 18 months after birth, with highly significant reduction in average and maximum lifespan, compared with the +/+ littermates.
Consistent with the curve generated for the total population, RasGrf1 −/− without tumors displayed a 20% increase in average lifespan as compared with tumor-free control mice (mean values WT: 99±4.5 weeks and RasGrf1 −/−: 119±4.9; median WT: 102 weeks; RasGrf1 −/−: 121 weeks) (p= 0.0003, Logrank test).
(B ) Animals that chemotaxed to the BZ odor side of the chemotaxis plate as aged adults (day 5) have a 16.2% average extension in their lifespan compared to animals from the opposite, control (Ctrl) side (p < 0.01 by Mantel Cox test, see Figure 8 figure supplement 1 and Figure 8 source data 1 for quantification).
PF also dramatically extends adult lifespan compared to YF.
Their average lifespan is 91.1 years, compared with 77.5 for the general population, 86.7 for Asian women nationally, and about 80 years for Bergen County as a whole, a figure that places it first in the Northeast.
The mutant males showed a stronger reduction in average lifespan, with 43.2 days compared to 54.6 days in the wild-type.
The strain is severely short-lived with average lifespan of 37.0 ± 12.1 weeks, compared to longer than 110 weeks of lifespan in same background wild type animals (Nadon, 2006).
As a reciprocal component of BMAL1, CLOCK deficiency also results in shorter average lifespan to approximately 15% reduction compared to wild type, and premature pathologies including cataracts and dermatitis (Dubrovsky et al., 2010).
Dwarf models have been found to exhibit an average lifespan increase of more than 50% compared to wildtype control strains, and thus represent genetic manipulations with an impact on longevity that is comparable to calorie restricted diets [ 1].
