Dislocation (early or recurrent), revision (due to all causes), leg-length discrepancy (average leg-length discrepancy, and discrepancy within ideal range, which was defined as 0-2 cm), Harris hip score (HHS) improvement (proportion of the difference between post- and pre-operative HHS in the post-operative HHS) and deep infection.
We performed a PCA using as variables the natural log-transformed measurements of SVL, average front leg length, average rear leg length, tail length, tail height, tail width, head width and body width.
The average preoperative leg length discrepancy in patients with unilateral high hip dislocation was 46 mm (28 65 mm); postoperatively leg length discrepancy was less than 1 cm in 11 patients, between 1 and 2 cm in 8 patients, and more than 2 cm in 2 patients.
The mean leg-length discrepancy was 2.8 cm.
Moreover, cam-FAI patients could not squat as low as controls, reaching on average 41.5% of leg length versus 32.3% reached by controls (p = 0.037).
Their intermembral index (ratio of arm to leg length) averages 89, indicating that their forelimbs are slightly shorter than their hind limbs.
Maximum squat depth was significantly improved by surgery from 36.9 to 33.2% of leg length on average (p = 0.027), while sagittal pelvic ROM was not.
Radiographically, the mean difference in leg length was 11 (0–40) mm.
The average knee extension loss was 12°, leg length discrepancy (LLD) was 47 mm, posterior distal femoral angle (PDFA) was 65°, and mechanical axis deviation (MAD) was 2 mm lateral (Table 2).
