The phrase "average affection" is correct and usable in written English.
It can be used to describe a typical or moderate level of emotional attachment or fondness towards someone or something.
Example: "Her average affection for her pets was evident in the way she cared for them, ensuring they were always well-fed and groomed."
Alternatives: "moderate affection" or "typical affection".
The high-conflict mother-son relationship type, characterized by high levels of mother-son conflicts and average affection was found in about a quarter of all populations, and was slightly more prevalent in the Dutch incarcerated sample than in the other samples.
