The large stations have relatively low scores for the availability of bicycle parking facilities, cyclist infrastructure and directness of bicycle routes to the station (average score of 6).
This scenario represents the effects of an improvement of the availability of bicycle places within 2 min walking form the platform.
By spatially relating located experiences to the availability of bicycle facilities and other aspects of the urban environment, their influence on cyclists' experiences can be analysed.
Whereas 'perceived neighbourhood-scale challenges' decrease the odds of cycling, 'perceived neighbourhood-scale opportunities', which reflect the availability of bicycle lanes, alternative roads and traffic control measures increase the likelihood of cycling among the study respondents.
