In the last few years several strategies have been employed for removal of selectable markers [ 20, 23, 24] including co-transformation [ 25, 26] transposon mediated repositioning of the gene of interest [ 27, 28], exploitation of multi- auto- transformation system [ 29] and site – specific recombination system [ 30- 33].
It is further shown that the cross-correlation-based estimators are more effective than techniques based on auto-transformations, due to their noise-filtering properties.
