Interestingly, a pool of STAT3 localizes to the mitochondria, to sustain high levels of mitochondrial respiration [ 14] and to augment transformation by oncogenic Ras [ 15, 16].
Several other studies have also shown that nanoparticles can augment transformation efficiency in bacteria46,47,48.
Importantly, nicotine also augmented FOXM1-induced transformation of human oral keratinocytes.
Many laboratories around the world have used the STAT3C construct that consistently augments transformation as we had found.
