For each platform we attributed 1 out of 4 intra-platform intensity quantiles (Q1,..., Q4) to each available targets out of all available targets per platform.
For this purpose, we attributed 1 point for the third item, 'Thrombosis', considering that the hemofiltration-filter clotting was equivalent to a 'recurrent thrombosis'.
In addition, the Apfel PONV risk scores (female gender, nonsmoking status, history of PONV and/or motion sickness, and postoperative opioid were attributed 1 point each) did not differ between the groups.
It should be noted that at this step of the analysis, we had to reverse the item values attributed (1 becoming 4, 2 becoming 3 and so on…) to obtain higher IOFS score values for greater impact.

In this scoring system each inflamed toe or knuckle is attributed 1 point, whereas an inflamed wrist or ankle is attributed 5 points, resulting in a score of 0 to 15 (five toes + five knuckles + one wrist/ankle) for each paw and 0 60 points for each mouse [ 12].
