A typical example of an attractive shift of 15.5° is displayed in figure 2A (averaged tuning curves).
The mean attractive shift was 15.7°±1.8°, while the average repulsive shifts were 15.6°±2.9° (red dots).

After twelve minutes of adaptation the neuron displayed a clear attractive shift of 22.5° and its firing rate strongly increased from 8.4 Hz±0.4 Hz to 35.6 Hz±1.1 Hz (paired sample two-tailed t-test, p<0.0001).
While some studies have, in addition, reported an indirect component of tilt adaptation, i.e. an attractive shift towards the adaptor, for large adaptation angles [5], [11], [22], we did not measure any such attraction using this stimulus set and paradigm (see Materials and Methods for details).
