In the first study, German perceivers rated the expressions given the intended attitude, in the second study, they had to choose the most suitable in a choice of five attitudes, and in the third study raters were able to assign freely the term best matching each attitudinal expression.
The attitude observed in the study group profoundly differs from that of the general Mozambican pregnant population, estimated to have a high antenatal attendance rate - 92.4% getting at least one visit during pregnancy [ 26].
Using this modified questionnaire, we condensed scores to a simple agree, don't know, or disagree code similar to scoring used for attitude items in the Study of Women Across the Nation SWANN) (Sommer et al 1999).

The attitudes reflected in the study could further influence, or may have already influenced, the continuing debate in Congress over volatile issues like immigration, Hispanic/Latino identity, education, economic mobility, jobs — and not least, political power.
6 Because the operationalisation of risk attitude in the cited studies has been criticised for assessing 'sure-loss-avoidance' rather than risk tolerance, it seems relevant to examine the effect of risk attitude approached as a multidimensional construct on physician activities.
This phenomenon was clearly evident within the context of weight-related beliefs and attitudes in this study, as the women ascribed to the norm that the mother is morally responsible for mitigating any risks to the fetus.
The positive attitudes in this study could perhaps partly be explained by some GPs' appreciation of the usefulness of the information provided by the industry on how the patient could use drugs.
Furthermore, results on GP attitudes in the present study were very similar to those found in a previous survey using this scale [ 12].
