At 20 weeks (when attending for a scan) and 35 weeks, women were again seen at the John Radcliffe Hospital by the research midwife.
Forty-nine children attended the second assessment, and a further 11 children attended a third scan (but not the second); therefore, 60/80 children underwent at least two assessments and were able to have hippocampal growth rates estimated.
All interviewers from each site attended a 4-day SCAN training course in the UK.
We also performed a longitudinal VBM analysis with ten runners covering 3 time points and a second analysis with seven runners who were able to attend a follow-up scan after 8 months at time point 4. All included TEFR09 participants were men, aged 31 to 67 years with a mean of 50.2 (SD 9.7) years.

In the first and second trimesters, 36% (n = 83) and 35% (n = 77) of urine samples, respectively, were classified as dilute [creatinine concentration <0.3 g/L (25)], whereas a lower percentage (19%; n = 41) were dilute in the third trimester; this may be a result of women at the 12- and 20-wk visits attending scan appointments with a full bladder.
Residents attended a 3-hour didactic course and then performed three normal FAST scans followed by four scans on patients with known intra-abdominal fluid.
17 18 One of the reasons for this may be that the women were more accurate in reporting on the questionnaire as they had more time to fill this in compared to those attending their first scan in a busy clinic.
Knowledge was similar amongst women recruited at the public hospital and those recruited whilst attending for an ultrasound scan at a private clinic.
