Errors during the phase of attachment, such as syntelic and merotelic attachment, fail to become stabilized and become corrected (e.g. Nicklas and Koch, 1969; Cimini et al, 2003; Lampson et al, 2004).
Such a system would be prone to segregation errors if these attachments failed to get corrected.
