The Atlantic Plains are the flatlands along the central and southern Atlantic Coast that stretch from Massachusetts to Mississippi.
The group notes the needs are greater than $1,000 per person in five regions: Far West, Great Lakes, Mid-Atlantic, Plains and Southwest.
By contrast, LGM conditions in northern Florida and the 'mainland' Gulf-Atlantic plains were colder/drier with extreme ~8-10°C ~8-10°Cn winter temperatures, 400 mm/yr lower annual precipitation, andropschy northern forest and grasslands vegetatinn [ 27, 93, 94].
The Atlantic Coastal Plain, which extends from Massachusetts to Florida, takes in Long Island and Staten Island.
Comprising a heavily forested plateau, they cover the southern half of Venezuela, all of the Guianas except for the low Atlantic coastal plain, the northern part of Brazil, and a portion of southeastern Colombia.
Most commonly, retention of spikelets within leaf sheaths prevents their opening and enforces self-pollination, but in a few species, such as Amphicarpum purshii of the Atlantic coastal plain of North America, some of the spikelets are produced on stems that grow down into the soil.
To that end, hydrologic monitoring was conducted for 11 years on a 1.2 ha hillslope located in the Atlantic Coastal Plain region of south central Georgia, USA.
Similar decreases in surface runoff and increases in lateral subsurface flow can be expected to occur in landscapes in the Atlantic Coastal Plain Region where strip tillage is adopted.
However, the soil C and N contents of these Atlantic Coastal Plain soils were 3 to 8-fold greater which underscores the value of these riparian soils as C pools.
