Analyses at the gene pool level were performed only on gene pools presenting a low genetic substructure (see results) to avoid potential population structure bias [ 36].
At the gene pool level, the FST among populations differed significantly from zero in all but one gene pool (Is), but were always lower than 0.147.
Genomic 8-oxoG can be formed in two ways; direct oxidation of a guanine residue in a genomic sequence or oxidation at the nucleotide pool levels, i.e. the formation of 8-oxo-dGTP followed by its incorporation during DNA synthesis.
Indeed, we detected a signal of population decline (nSSR data) in all the LGR gene pools, both at the population and gene pool levels, which confirms previous results obtained with pDNA data [ 8].

Second, a trend emerged for lower cost at lower tag-pooling levels.

In each case, 10 pools were sequenced at various different pooling levels, from mostly non-overlapping sets of Fosmids (1, 1, 1, 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, and 4896 96 or 114 clones sequenced in total), generating Illumina 100 × 100 bp paired-end sequences, with a predicted insert size of 350 ± 50 bp (observed insert size of 275 ± 50 bp).
